MONSTER MAGNET: Seeking Label Home, Working On ICE CUBE Soundtrack

January 15, 2003

MONSTER MAGNET, currently label-less following a split with longtime home A&M Records early last year, have posted the following update via their official web site:

"We know you are all itching to hear some news from the MAGNET front but unfortunately we have nothing to report! We finished work on a demo [containing the tracks 'Master Of Light', 'Oh Baby' and 'Blow Your Mind'] that is currently being shopped around to different labels. [Frontman] Dave [Wyndorf] is in L.A. working on the music to the Ice Cube movie we are in that is slated to come out next summer. Sorry we don't have more exciting news for you all but things should be picking up next month so just hang in there. Those of you who have been fans for a while know nothing gets done quickly in MONSTER MAGNET land, but sooner or later it does get done!"

As previously reported, MONSTER MAGNET filmed a scene last summer for the aforementioned ICE CUBE movie, which is being directed by Joseph Kahn, who has worked with the group on the videos for "Space Lord" and "Powertrip". The band were reportedly cast as a bar band playing in a dirty old saloon-type of place behind the main-screen action taking place, courtesy of the rapper.
